Download or read book Before Crown and Kingdom written by Melissa Wright and published by Melissa Wright. This book was released on 2021-05-04 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Freedom was more treacherous than she ever imagined. Nimona Weston’s debts are paid. Her contract with the dark society known as the Trust is broken. But the magical ties that bind her to a long-ago bargain are rooted deep. She’s thrust back into the life she’d been forced from as a girl and now her every move is under the watchful eye of the king. A king who wants her dead. But fate has plans of its own and Nim is helpless to stop them, even as the future of the kingdom is placed in her hands. Magical contracts, blood-debt accountants, and a deadly game. An epic fantasy with regency flair, an improper and slightly stabby heroine with a penchant for trouble, clean, slow burn romance, and a dark and twisty plot that pits magic against kings, love against power, and a gothic underworld against a kingdom built on lies. Perfect for fans of Sorcery of Thorns and The Shadows Between Us.

This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 534 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Described as 'ground-breaking' in Kent McNeil's Foreword, this book develops an alternative approach to conventional Aboriginal title doctrine. It explains that aboriginal customary law can be a source of common law title to land in former British colonies, whether they were acquired by settlement or by conquest or cession from another colonising power. The doctrine of Common Law Aboriginal Customary Title provides a coherent approach to the source, content, proof and protection of Aboriginal land rights which overcomes problems arising from the law as currently understood and leads to more just results. The doctrine's applicability in Australia, Canada and South Africa is specifically demonstrated. While the jurisprudential underpinnings for the doctrine are consistent with fundamental common law principles, the author explains that the Australian High Court's decision in Mabo provides a broader basis for the doctrine: a broader basis which is consistent with a re-evaluation of case-law from former British colonies in Africa, as well as from the United States, New Zealand and Canada. In this context, the book proffers a reconceptualisation of the Crown's title to land in former colonies and a reassessment of conventional doctrines, including the doctrine of tenure and the doctrine of continuity. 'With rare exceptions ... the existing literature does not probe as deeply or question fundamental assumptions as thoroughly as Dr Secher does in her research. She goes to the root of the conceptual problems around the legal nature of Indigenous land rights and their vulnerability to extinguishment in the former colonial empire of the Crown. This book is a formidable contribution that I expect will be influential in shifting legal thinking on Indigenous land rights in progressive new directions.' Download or read book Jack the Ripper written by Gary Coville and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-06-14 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The identity of Jack the Ripper has consumed public curiosity since he first tormented the East End of London in 1888. Numerous theories have been offered as to his identity, but he remains in the shadows where, it seems, only imaginative literature has been able to elucidate his meaning to the modern world. This work surveys the literary, film, television, and radio treatments of Jack the Ripper and his crimes. The works of fiction are thoroughly analyzed, as are the major nonfiction works that have offered various theories about the Ripper’s identity. Works whose narratives are obviously inspired by Jack the Ripper and his crimes are also discussed.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a much-needed review of commercial closures for bottles and jars used in America prior to World War II. Archaeological attention to commercial closures has been rather limited. This is surprising given that data derived from bottles and jars pertain to a wide range of studies, including chronological control, trade, site functions, and methods of manufacture. Closures are an integral part of these studies, becoming particularly important after a spectacular variety of metal and glass caps in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This volume-provides a comprehensive review, including detailed closure definitions, as well as glass finishes;-discusses the history of the development and impact of the hermetic seal in commercial closures;-will appeal to students, professionals, and collectors studying this common historic artifact class.

But while Urban Pantry focused on shelf-stable, dried, or preserved goods, Fresh Pantry shows cooks how to eat a seasonal diet —fresh vegetables and fruits that will offer your palate a variety of foods in sync with the seasons. As anyone trying to eat locally all year long knows, the winter gets difficult: Walking the “local” aisles of a well-stocked produce section or around your neighborhood farmers market, you find few options — onions, cabbage, and kale, oh my! In summer, of course, the season is bountiful, but the dishes most people make at home tend to be one note — how many times can we eat the same tomato-caprice salad or grilled zucchini? From January to December, Fresh Pantry features 120 creative yet healthy and doable recipes centered on 12 choice seasonal vegetables and fruits; accessible and clever advice on growing, storing, and using seasonal ingredients; lush and inspirational photographs; detailed resources for sustainable eating; and the exuberant energy that marked Pennington’s first book.
