Book excerpt: Understanding the Dreams You Dream: Biblical Keys for Hearing God’s Voice in the Night not only provides insight into your dreams and life, but also includes a comprehensive dictionary of dream symbols! You will be guided through the complex world of dreams by a minister with decades of experience receiving, understanding, and interpreting dreams of his own and for others. I have received many helpful messages from God through dreams. In addition to being helped through my own dreams, I have seen many other people obtain help and comfort by using their dreams as an aid to healing in pastoral counseling. –Ira Milligan Through Scripture-based meditation, much can be understood about your dreams, but many Christians don’t know how to meditate. This problem is addressed in three different ways: • Specific, detailed directions are given on how and upon what to meditate. • Personal examples of dreams from the author’s own experiences. • Practical dictionary of symbol definitions is included. This book presents both normal and not-so-normal dream situations. You will learn that to apply only one type of dream interpretation to all dreams is restricting each symbol to only one possible definition, which is incorrect. And you will learn how to tell the difference between a dream from God—and those from evil sources.

Book excerpt: After years of lucid dreaming, the author spontaneously experiences a series of religious encounters with intense light which bring an awareness of the presence of God. He describes a number of these encounters in detail. The greater part of the book then presents an analysis of these experiences. Perhaps the most unique part of the analysis, based on the author's study of his hypnopompic lattice imagery, is the description of how the internal visual image is constructed and seen three-dimensionally. In fact, the visual image is shown to be identified with the part of oneself that sees the image. Every part of the visual field is a nonduality of seer and seen. Finally he analyzes the imagery of dreams (out of which the experiences of light arise), light (as visual image and as spiritual event), and the awareness of the presence of God. His religious experiences of light are shown not to be dreams, but to lie, in a sense, beyond dream imagery and dreaming.

A hidden world all about us, angels and demons, or is what we can touch and sense all there is? And now, the Simulation Hypothesis plagues us. Could we really be living in a computer simulation? Through the ages, the conundrum of Reality has messed with the collective consciousness of humanity. The Allegory of Plato's Cave down through the ages to The Matrix. A chance meeting in the park leads two strangers to discover strange connections between themselves and the world, and in truth both had felt that perhaps there was something not quite right with the world, something different. They have both noticed improbable coincidences popping up in their lives, at an almost alarming regularity, and now, meeting, they witness strange signs in the heavens, and find themselves on a bizarre path that will make them question their very reality, and the reality of the world about them, and the universe itself.

Book excerpt: A neuroscientist and Zen practitioner interweaves the latest research on the brain with his personal narrative of Zen. Aldous Huxley called humankind's basic trend toward spiritual growth the "perennial philosophy." In the view of James Austin, the trend implies a "perennial psychophysiology"—because awakening, or enlightenment, occurs only when the human brain undergoes substantial changes. What are the peak experiences of enlightenment? How could these states profoundly enhance, and yet simplify, the workings of the brain? Zen and the Brain presents the latest evidence. In this book Zen Buddhism becomes the opening wedge for an extraordinarily wide-ranging exploration of consciousness. In order to understand which brain mechanisms produce Zen states, one needs some understanding of the anatomy, physiology, and chemistry of the brain. Austin, both a neurologist and a Zen practitioner, interweaves the most recent brain research with the personal narrative of his Zen experiences. The science is both inclusive and rigorous; the Zen sections are clear and evocative. Along the way, Austin examines such topics as similar states in other disciplines and religions, sleep and dreams, mental illness, consciousness-altering drugs, and the social consequences of the advanced stage of ongoing enlightenment.

Book excerpt: This is an autobiography of the life of Mary Angela (Zagone) Allen. Every life is designed and planned by a living God. God is all Love, Truth, Light, and Goodness. He makes and provides for every child if that person will choose to surrender their life to Him. He gives everyone a measure of faith to believe in God with an added gift of choice. Each child can choose to follow the God of Truth or take over the control of their own life. Before choosing to live by believing in God and Jesus as my savior I was in chaos. I lived for the moments of fun which lasted in short bursts. Most moments without God were sad and lonely. Living for God has made my life more enjoyable, full of peace and purpose. God loves all of us and gives us gifts, talents, and abilities to bless our lives. All people must make individual choices to live for God or against Him. My hope is that my life will influence and encourage you to choose your heavenly Father and follow the savior Christ to everlasting peace and joy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A classic in the field of dream analysis, The Dream: The Vision of the Night is a collection of essays, lectures, and vignettes by Max Zeller whose career included a law degree, a brief imprisonment in a Nazi Concentration Camp, study at the Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland, and thirty years of in-depth work as a Jungian analyst. In the eighteen pieces of this collection, Zeller intersperses theoretical writings, compassionate and incisive case studies, and powerful, almost haiku-like reminiscences of certain incidences in his life, from his meetings with C.G. Jung to his impressions of life in pre-war Nazi Germany. The Dream: The Vision of the Night is the best example of amplification of Jungian principles that can be found. Neither pure research nor pure memoir, the collection is an affective combination of both, and as such best portrays the spirit of its author: always restless and searching, always compassionate and open-minded, and above all, always fascinated by the mystery and power of our dreams.
