Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All over the world, the number of singles is increasing. With the rise of the economy, people are able to keep a form of independence. Education and economic status promote individuality. The need to commit yourself to another person becomes less important. In many countries’ women get more space to have their own career and education. The male dominance is fading increasingly everywhere. One of the most important facts in history is the decrease of religious practice promoting male dominance with a following obedient female. Since only around 50+ years women begin to develop a strong sense of independence and are able to get a social position. The social stigma of a single woman is disappearing. One important reason why women more often chose for a single live position is due to the lack of “good” suitable men. Men have built philosophies, religions and believe that women should be followers and obedient to men. When they designed these moral repressive ideas, they did not consider the fact that women could develop above their level. Now many men get hit by their own ancestors. It is an ironical faith.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Single-use technology (SUT) is now available for all processing operations within the biopharmaceutical industry. It has the potential to reduce capital costs, improve plant throughput and reduce the risk of cross-contamination. However, there are no clear guidelines to aid the end-user on implementation of these technologies into a validated, good manufacturing practice (GMP) environment. This book is the first comprehensive publication of practical considerations for each stage of the implementation process of SUT, and covers the selection, specification, design and qualification of systems to meet end-user requirements.Serving as an introduction and practical reference to this growing area of application within the biopharmaceutical industry, this handbook presents:An approach for SUT implementation within an end-users facility with examples for bioreactors, tangential-flow filtration and fill-finish systems;SUT within the context of regulatory guidance, such as ICH Q8, Q9, Q10 and GMP;Strategy for standardisation of single-use bag systems and assessment of extractables and leachables;Specifications of user requirements and design of specific SUT alongside process descriptions and flow diagrams;Strategies and tools to evaluate risk with examples of risk assessments applicable to design, processing and product quality; andQualification approach for different SUT types. With the information presented in this book, engineers, researchers and professionals involved in biopharmaceuticals will be better prepared to plan and make effective decisions to design and implement SUT.

Due to the novelty and complexity of these procedures, the book focuses on detailed descriptions as well as pertinent illustrations for various upper and lower tract urologic procedures. The development of novel minimally invasive and robotic technology for more comfortable performance of these demanding procedures is covered. A complete description of instrumentation, platforms, and optics developed specifically for LESS is another primary focus of this text. Finally, a description of outcomes and complications as well as comparative data defining the status of LESS in relation to other current minimally invasive techniques is offered. Atlas of Laparoscopic and Robotic Single Site Surgery will provide a detailed summary of the current status of LESS that will help guide surgical decision making, encourage investigative efforts, and stimulate industry led technology development.

Today, the majority of the world's population lives in a country with falling marriage rates, a phenomenon with profound impacts on women, gender, and sexuality. In this exceptionally crafted ethnography, Sarah Lamb probes the gendered trend of single women living in India, examining what makes living outside marriage for women increasingly possible and yet incredibly challenging. Featuring the stories of never-married women as young as 35 and as old as 92, the book offers a remarkable portrait of a way of life experienced by women across class and caste divides, from urban professionals and rural day laborers, to those who identify as heterosexual and lesbian, to others who evaded marriage both by choice and by circumstance. For women in India, complex social-cultural and political-economic contexts are foundational to their lives and decisions, and evading marriage is often an unintended consequence of other pressing life priorities. Arguing that never-married women are able to illuminate their society's broader social-cultural values, Lamb offers a new and startling look at prevailing systems of gender, sexuality, kinship, freedom, and social belonging in India today.

Book excerpt: This book provides the basis for understanding the elastic properties of nucleic acids (DNA, RNA), the methods used to manipulate them (e.g. optical, magnetic and acoustic tweezers and traps), and how to observe their interactions with proteins (e.g. fluorescence microscopy, FCS, FRET, etc.). It then exemplifies the use of these various methods in the study of three families of DNA enzymes: polymerases, helicases and topoisomerases. The book aims not to be exhaustive, but rather to stimulate the imagination of readers in the application of these single molecule approaches to the study of DNA/RNA and their interactions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nanomaterials via Single-Source Precursors: Synthesis, Processing and Applications presents recent results and overviews of synthesis, processing, characterization and applications of advanced materials for energy, electronics, biomedicine, sensors and aerospace. A variety of processing methods (vapor, liquid and solid-state) are covered, along with materials, including metals, oxides, semiconductor, sulfides, selenides, nitrides, and carbon-based materials. Production of quantum dots, nanoparticles, thin films and composites are described by a collection of international experts. Given the ability to customize the phase, morphology, and properties of target materials, this “rational approach to synthesis and processing is a disruptive technology for electronic, energy, structural and biomedical (nano)materials and devices. The use of single-source chemical precursors for materials processing technology allows for intimate elemental mixing and hence production of complex materials at temperatures well below traditional physical methods and those involving direct combination of elements. The use of lower temperatures enables thin-film deposition on lightweight polymer substrates and reduces damage to complex devices structures such as used in power, electronics and sensors. Discusses new approaches to synthesis or single-source precursors (SSPs) and the concept of rational design of materials Includes materials processing of SSPs in the design of new materials and novel devices Provides comprehensive coverage of the subject (materials science and chemistry) as related to SSPs and the range of potential applications

Book excerpt: Many facets of our world appear biased toward the couples’ lifestyle; there’s often an insinuation in advertisements, private conversations, and public gatherings that being alone means being unfulfilled--that singleness is a second-class status. How could that be true? In Joyfully Single in a Couples’ World, Bible teacher Harold J. Sala clearly states: “What I want to accomplish is to help singles understand that they can find contentment and peace where they are right now, that they don’t have to be married to be happy. I want to help them come to grips with who they are and to help them to discover where God wants them to go with their lives and futures. Finding God’s help to meet the present need is the key to peace and fulfillment.” Chapters on making peace with your dreams, handling other people’s expectations, the beauty of friendships, and God’s will guide readers to great joy in the here and now.
